ANCESTRAL PRIDE INSTITUTE OF CULTURAL STUDIES

APICS

Ifa is the science of nature and it encompasses all knowledge, science and technology. All Orisa (Forces of Nature) have their origins in OduIfa. For this reason, not everybody is destined to become an Initiate of Ifa (AwoIfa) or even a competent Babalawo (Ifa priest) or Iyanifa (Ifa priestess). Some are destined to serve one or various Orisa, which is determined during Akosejaye (childbirth consultation) Life Path Readings, Ifa Initiation, and, lastly, through dreams, vision or consciousness.

Although Ifa has been in existence for over 10,000 years, there is a general awakening across Africa and its Diaspora and a growing interest in Ifa, especially after UNESCO included the Ifa Divination System on the List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005 and proclaimed 2015-2024 as the Decade of People of African Descent.

For Orisa Studies, individuals can take classes on their Orisa of Choice, whether they are initiates or aspiring initiates of such Orisa.

Ifa Studies are divided into three phases, Primary, Secondary and Advanced, each with its own outline and manual, available for purchase by registered students, to ensure effective studies.

The course is offered to both full-time/permanent members (initiates) and part-time members (non-initiates) based on agreed requirements and negotiations. Our syllabus is applied to both local and international students physically present or studying online. Students are tested upon completing each phase and duration of studies depends on skill and dedication. Diplomas are only issued at the end of each full course.

Our initiates benefit from a 20% discount on tuition, online courses and on accommodations, tours and meals during their stay at the institute.
