OGBONI: The Great Mission of Divine Mother Edan (Onile Ogboduora)

[1] When the divine and powerful mother Edan (Onile Ogboduora) made her appearance upon this earth she did so with a specific and sacred purpose. Her manifestation upon this earth signaled a new opportunity to humanity for renewal, progress and empowered living. Her appearance signaled a fresh and new beginning for all of humanity and not just the privileged Yoruba people. Her aim and purpose was, and is, universal in scope. Edan came to bring healing, order, harmony, binding divine precepts and balance to the communities of the earth in general and to each human being in particular.

[2] You must remember and keep in mind that Edan is not a human being. Edan (Onile Ogboduora) is not Yoruba, Chinese, American, Eastern or Western. Edan is a divine personality of extraordinary abilities and supra-human powers. Edan is not from this world. She comes from a glorious and inconceivable realm of holiness, beauty and power. The intelligence, understanding, power and charismatic attractiveness of divine mother Edan are extraordinary, penetrating and outstanding. Edan can see to the depth and reality of things. She cannot be deceived, manipulated or bribed, neither does she make mistakes in the administration of her dispensation. She is beyond the grasp of human influence. She does not ever fall sway to the pettiness and fickleness that is common among humanity. Her divine sight is never obstructed and her activity cannot be hindered. Her virtue, character, personality and charisma are without equal. Even Òrúnmìlà acknowledged her greatness, efficiency, ability and uniqueness. It was after all Òrúnmìlà himself who called on Edan, his divine friend and associate for support, solutions and relief!

[3] When Edan descended from the realm of Irunmole to this earth, she appeared with fullness of divine authority, power and command. All internal and external ajogun and elenini fled before her. With the power of her majestic, divinely attractive and beautiful personality, supramundane intelligence and asé filled charisma, she was able to free and deliver the hearts and minds of the people of the negative thoughts, attitudes and unwholesome energies that were oppressing and dominating their minds.

[4] Edan was able to disarm people of their worries, fears, doubts, confusion and insecurities. To those hard-hearted and capricious ones who delighted in wrongdoing, deception, oppression and corruption she struck fear into their hearts, so that perhaps they might change their ways under her administration of forgiveness, order, empowerment and renewal. Such was and is the power and influence of divine mother Edan. Together with, and inseparable from the impartation of her ase to responsive members of humanity, she gave binding holy divine precepts and injunctions for her student-disciples to practice and implement on all levels of society and personal life.

[5] These obedient, trustworthy, loyal and reliable followers of Edan are Ogboni (the wise ones), because there is wisdom, understanding, peace, health and long-life in the obeying Edan and practicing her precepts. Outside of this one would constitute oneself an Ogberi (ignorant and foolish one), because to apparently know and not practice the truth, what is that if not the greatest ignorance, misfortune and foolishness?

[6] The divine principles of Edan became and are the vehicles of her divine presence, charisma, power, support and healing-rectifying influence. To have lived at the time of the appearance of Edan upon this sacred earth was a most extraordinary, gratifying and wonderful experience. That is if one was disposed to the divinely sanctioned and harmonious way of life she was revealing to humanity and is still revealing to humanity.

[7] The willfully stubborn, recalcitrant and belligerent ones did not and will not last long under the administration of Edan.

[8] Edan being naturally kind, just and understanding, like the precious and lovable holy mother that she is, she afforded everyone forgiveness, a new beginning without reference to past wrongs, an opportunity to change, and the blessing to avail themselves of her personal support, assurance, inspiration and power.

[9] Edan is aware of our frailties and weaknesses as human beings. No one need be fearful because of their natural weaknesses or flaws. But deliberate and intentional wrongdoing, deception, lying, dishonest practices and malicious aggression, Edan would not and will not tolerate. Edan did not appear to make us rich and famous. Edan appeared to make us partakers of true life, health, peace, security and prosperity, through our practice of her clear teachings and our reception and enjoyment of her asé.

[10] Edan appeared to enable us to discover our divine, noble and beautiful nature. She came to restore dignity, clarity, transparency and moral health and moral cleanliness to our lives. Edan inculcated and revealed the divine truth to her intelligent and humble followers that when we are individually and collectively right within, then this inner order, health, harmony and uprightness will be revealed and expressed in the world without. The instructions of Edan were not and are not suggestions, but divinely bestowed commands and laws. They are binding and obligatory to all humanity and especially to those who devote themselves to Edan.

[11] Edan came to spiritualize our lives. The way of life that she instituted and the special teachings that she revealed are called Ogboni (the way of the truly wise and illuminated). Ogboni is a way of life. Ogboni is a way of sweetness, humility, dignity and light. Ogboni is the way of uprightness, truthfulness, rectitude and justice which leads to the full integration of ones personality and union with the Divine Spirit of harmony, truth, order, health and balance. Ogbonism revitalizes our life through our covenant with Edan, the reception of her asé, and the practice of her divine principles.

[12] To be Ogboni means to be the best of the best. It means to be a model of impeccability, trustworthiness and reliability. To be Ogboni means to be personally persuaded to pursue and do what is right, correct and proper, independently of times, places and/or circumstances. To be Ogboni means to be courageous, honorable and established in integrity. To be Ogboni means to have self-initiative, to be responsible, and to do what is right for the sake of love of truth, and not to be seen, praised and applauded by others. Formal initiation alone does not make you a follower of Edan. Formal initiation alone does not make you a true Ogboni. What is important is not that other people call you Ogboni, but that Edan acknowledges and accepts you as one of her true, loyal and obedient children. What is important is that you are Ogboni 24 hours-a-day in your thoughts, attitudes, actions and relationships.

ONILE OGBODUORA IS THE SUPREME PRIMORDIAL POWER

The Divine Mother Onile Ogboduora is the Supreme Primordial Power. Olodumare is the Supreme Primordial Power in it its transcendent, expansive, inconceivable and all-pervading form. Olodumare is all of the Supreme Primordial Power that we are incapable of knowing. Olodumare refers to those wonders, glories and profundities of the Supreme Being that are entirely beyond are capacity to know. It is not possible for us at this time to know Olodumare as Olodumare knows Himself. This is why this expansive, all-pervading and inconceivable feature of the Supreme Primordial Power, Person and Being is called Olodumare. The Sole Owner of all inconceivable powers, energies, potencies, wisdoms and powers!

It is completely impossible for us to know, experience and comprehend Olodumare without Olodumare choosing to reveal Himself and make Himself known to us. We simply cannot accurately know, perceive and understand Olodumare by the strength of our finite and limited will, reason or intelligence. It is only when Olodumare through His own initiative reveals Himself to us or responds to our desire and request to know Him, that we can know Him.

When we are blessed and graced with the initial, ever-increasing and progressive experience, knowledge and understanding of Olodumare, that facet of Olodumare which we are fitted to progressively experience, know, and be comforted, nurtured and uplifted by is called Onile Ogboduora. Onile Ogboduora is the name we give to our personal and ever-increasing experience and understanding of the Supreme Being. The transcendent (what we can’t at present know of or about Olodumare) aspect of the Supreme we call Father. The immanent aspect of the Supreme (what we can directly know of Olodumare) we call Mother i.e. Onile Ogboduora. Both aspects are one and inseparable from each other. From the perspective of the Absolute Supreme Being there is no distinction between the transcendent and immanent. But from the perspective of finite beings like ourselves, we perceive, experience, understand and differentiate between both aspects of the one Supreme Being. For all intents and purposes, it is the Mother aspect of Enitolodun (the Supreme Absolute Truth) that we crave, yearn and desire for. Onile Ogboduora is that aspect and feature of the limitless, expansive and all-pervading Divine Intelligence which meets our need for love, compassion, companionship, understanding, sympathy, personal/intimate devotion and individual/personal affection.

Onile Ogboduora is the feature and aspect of the Supreme Absolute Being Enitolodun which expresses the nearness, sympathy and awareness of the Supreme Power towards us. Onile Ogboduora is the owner, guide, adjuster and governer of Ile. Ile in this instance does not refer to planet earth and is not limited to the earth planet. Ile in this instance refers to all creation, all worlds, all dimensions and all realms of of the vast universal creation, because these are the ile or home and dwelling place of the Infinite Spirit of Compassion, Sympathy, Dynamic Power, Understanding, Strength, Courage and Wisdom, i.e. Onile Ogboduora.

How can the Supreme limitless and infinite intelligence bridge the gap between its own eternal, unique and unequaled nature and our finite and limited nature? How can the infinite and finite meet and relate? How can the glorious one and great glory be understood, appreciated, known and experienced by humanity? Can we do anything to bridge this gap? No! There is nothing we can do. When the loving Supreme Power Olodumare makes itself known to us, and we personally and individually experience its true character, personality, intent and nature, that personally experienced and known knowledge and understanding is called, Onile Ogboduora. The divine nurturing mother.

When we really, personally actually know, and according to our present evolving capacity understand and experience the heart, intention mind of Enitolodun , the power of the Supreme through which He bonds us to Himself, manifests in us and through us, and causes us to know and experience His reality, true existence and limitless joy and happiness is called Onile Ogboduora. And this is why those who really know Enitolodun, revere Enitolodun, lovingly worship Enitolodun and enjoy a deep, transparent, fearless and satisfying friendship and living relationship with Enitolodun are known as ogboni (the wise ones), the ones who are truly knowing and experiencing the divine and eternal love, truth, intelligence and power – Onile Ogboduora.

Those whose quality of mind-spirit, vital-life and manner of living are one with Onile Ogboduora, these alone are the true sages, holy ones, seers, empowered ones and knowers of the sublime truth; or ogboni. A belief you can have today and change tomorrow. A belief you can have today and neglect, ignore, deny, reject or repudiate tomorrow. But when the experiential, direct and personal knowledge and power of Onile Ogboduora reveals itself to you and makes its home in your heart, this divine knowledge cannot ever be neglected, doubted, ignored, denied, rejected or repudiated because it is not a knowledge that is the product of your own individual hopeful belief or imagination but is something that is permanently impressed within you by a power, grace, beauty and goodness greater than yourself, and which exists and acts independently of your own circumscribed thoughts, ideas, feelings and beliefs.

Onile a gbe wa ooo! We praise you Primordial Divine Mother. You are of the essence of wisdom, love, knowledge and power. You are Life itself. You are Intelligence itself. You are Love itself. You are the spirit of Loyalty and Devotion. You are the Original uncreated and united Diverse Eternal Powers itself. You are a unity of limitless, inconceivable and fathomless potencies and energies. You are the initial cause, nurturer and owner of all things. You are life itself. You are the one who gives and gifts pattern, order, personality and originalilty to all things. You are the beginningless and original life who gives life and light to one and all. You are the Life of our life. There is no beauty, delightfulness and attractiveness that can approximate your own, not to speak of being your equal! You make yourself known only to the sincere, and to those whom your kindness and grace chooses to make itself known to. It is you who joins us experientially to Olodumare-Enitolodun. Phase 1 – Introduction to Ogboni Thought

Ogbo ato.

Divine mother Edan -Onile Ogboduora- teaches us that the laws of Olodumare provide that man and woman be born into a condition of life which offers opportunity for material achievements and spiritual development.

As a matter of common sense and common experience most individuals follow the religious concepts of their parents, primarily because they have no choice in the matter — and the parents, being responsible for the education of the child, naturally insist that the child receive religious/spiritual instruction and training conforming to the faith subscribed by them.

A vocation or profession is usually selected by the individual rather than by parents. Little by little the young man or woman becomes capable of thinking and acting independently, although adhering in most things to the teachings and training of early childhood.

As time goes on, the individual may begin to think independently regarding religion/spirituality, perhaps questioning certain practices, teachings and wondering whether or not there exists such a being as Olodumare or Irunmole/Orisa, Egungun, spirit beings, whether there is a purpose to life and what that purpose might be and how to achieve it.

Those that are given to thought, search and contemplation soon enough become determined true seekers for truth and understanding. It is for this aim and purpose that Edan -Onile Ogboduora- instituted her sacred order and association: To make know the facts of the spiritual life, the reality of Olodumare and the chief purposes of human life and how to successfully achieve it. This knowledge will benefit and satisfy those who have earnestly been searching for it and really have a deep need for it. Ogboni exists for this purpose alone: To communicate the truths, facts and practices that will lead to the fulfillment of life’s purpose. What this purpose is and what light Edan sheds on it and how to joyfully achieve it will be considered in another communication.

Many in their honest search and inquiry find and discover that they have been following erroneous, unsatisfying, unfulfilling, contradictory, outdated or misguided teachings. After seeking and trying so many things they now find themselves confused and lost but yet still desirous of the finding the simple, highest and most satisfying truths of life. When such sincere and hard working searchers and students of truth reach this stage, then are they ready to appreciate and benefit from the sublime ogboni teachings.

Authentic Ogbonism gives us a clear and satisfying criteria for discerning and identifying true spirituality from false or counterfeit spirituality. Ogbonism reveals the very simple but powerful fact that true spiritual teachings or authentic traditional religion must necessarily be based on the development of the human spirit/soul and spiritual awakening. For the accomplishment of this specific purpose did Eledumare set Edan apart from other Irunmole. Edan was charged by Olodumare to communicate the highest meanings, values and supreme purpose of life to humanity. She was instructed to institute a sacred association that would receive her revelations and ase and communicate/share them with seeking and interested ones among humanity for the health, upliftment, progress and salvation of the world. The society of Edan is a private society but is was not supposed to become a secret society. It was founded with the intention and purpose that its members would reach out to others with the teachings and ase of Edan after first establishing their lives according to the pattern and order revealed by Edan. As others embraced the covenant of Edan they naturally became members of her private society. They are private not because they are hiding but because most people are not really interested in learning, embracing, living and practicing the standard of life that was revealed by Edan. Edan represents order, voluntary and willing compliance with divine directives, morality, humility, productive living, practical love, honesty, accountability and personal responsibility. It was not that the community was intentionally exerting itself to keep interested and sincere people out of the association. On the contrary the order from Edan to the Ogboni society was to share, grow and expand. Edan is completely dedicated to the moral regeneration of humanity and the spiritualization of all aspects of human life and endeavors. Because of the serious and important nature of Edan’s mission, those who would be members of her society, the ogboni society, had to commit themselves to her principles, teaching and example if they were to personally benefit as well as succeed to bringing the esoteric mysteries of Ogbonism to all peoples. The aim of Edan was and is to reproduce on earth the same quality of life, standard and condition of the divine Irunmole in the life of each obedient, faithful and progressive human being until the earth becomes a perfected, pure and blissful world inhabited by divine human beings but this divine fact we will consider in more detail at a later time.

May divine mother Edan -Onile Ogboduora- shine her light upon you and may her asé lead you to the true path of peace, fulfillment, good conscience and satisfaction. AWO: THE MYSTERY SCHOOLS OF DIVINE AWARENESS AND POWER

The ancient seers -ologbon- had throughout the ages developed special and sacred private societies, associations, guilds, schools and fraternities whose aim was to promote the sacred sciences of acquiring and drawing spiritual power from the Indescribable Supreme Power Olodumare for the purpose of acquiring new levels and qualities of spiritual energy, awareness, perception and power, that would enable them by entering these new and progressive states or fields of spiritual consciousness or pure awareness, to more readily develop and evolve intellectually, morally and spiritually. Together with this discovery and advancement the ancient seers also discovered, developed and gained the ability and power to perform tremendous miraculous feats and extraordinary demonstrations of spiritual power, like second sight, thought transference, mind reading, healings, seership and the ability to alter events for positive and wholesome ends. These diverse schools and the disciple-students which comprised them were called Awo. Awo means mystery. Awo also means special and sacred spiritual knowledge and power which is not known or had by the great majority of people. Awo also means one who has personally experienced, is experiencing and has been spiritually awakened, educated, trained and empowered by the Divine Powers, Sublime Energies, Pure Spiritual Intelligences and/or by other authentic and mature Awo. Among these Awo those who had a natural affinity for this study, peculiar manner of life and who displayed the beginnings of true divine power and spiritual intelligence were known as Oso.

These ancient seers vested with knowledge and power were known and called by various and diverse names. Among the most respected and revered names was Oso. The original precise meaning, dignity and value of this wonderful word today has been lost to most people and has been corrupted to mean a ‘sorcerer or witch’; and this in a bad, negative, superstitious and low sense. Even the contemporary words sorcerer or witch are not bad words if one truly understands what these words actually mean, embody and what they are actually referring to. The ancient peoples understanding, conceptual comprehension and definition of these words were not what people attach to them today. The words are the same but the meanings and values were and are different. The truth of the matter is that whenever extraordinary men or woman discovered the primordial laws of life, the laws of the spiritual world and the laws of power; ignorant and fearful people were quick to label them with derogatory and unbecoming words because of their insecurity and their ignorance of the reality of the spiritual realm and the laws which govern the spiritual realm. This is why today the great, extraordinary and wonderful word Oso is used mostly as a derogatory word by uninformed people but originally and anciently actually was and is a spiritual-scientific term which refers to spiritual-energetic-perceptive, intellectually gifted people possessing a peculiar and powerful inner magnetic force otherwise known as personal spiritual power. Of course this power and knowledge has to be clearly grasped and understood and one has to be educated, disciplined and trained in its culture. So as we have seen the true meaning of the sacred and honorable word oso (intelligent and wise seer, empowered man and spiritual traveler) became corrupted over time. and degenerated in its meaning, value and usage. This happened because the ones who were supposed to be the inheritors, guardians and teachers of the lineage of the sacred spiritual science became degenerate, undisciplined, conceited, pompous, pretentious and corrupt, thereby losing their spiritual intelligence and power, as well as losing and ruining the true meaning, intent, purpose and sentiment of the ancient original seers, spiritual scientists, empowered men, soul travelers and spirit[ual] investigators known as Oso.

It is known to the humble and authentic inheritors and guardians of these lineages today that the true meaning of oso referred to a unique body of disciplined, cultured and courageous visionary men who had learned the secret of volitionally or intentionally altering their spiritual state of inner energy, perception and/or consciousness to such an extraordinary and unanticipated degree that they could peer into the divine world and even travel there to perceive and slowly comprehend its mysteries. They were able to bring new and original things back from their spiritual journeys and travels which would contribute to the enhancement, progress and evolution of mankind. These rare and exceptional awo-ologbon-oso were the original spiritual scientists, researchers, philosophers, experimenters and developing-evolving seers of their time.

There are three broad general categories of oso. There were those who main focus was the acquisition of power, authority and influence which they used for the purpose of altering, causing, hindering and controlling specific events and occurrences. They also used this power to influence, guide and even control people. So we can see how important and necessary it was for these men of knowledge and power to be good men, moral men, men of integrity, empathy and good disposition, otherwise their knowledge and its use could degenerate causing ruin, misery, sorrow and destruction to themselves and others. In fact this is what happened to some of the ancient awo. The ancient awo-ologbon-oso were beginning to understand and employ this field of spiritual science but not all of them were capable people of honor, good-will, character and integrity. Many of them lacked moral-ethical development, discipline, patience and maturity. The scope of their practices and knowledge degenerated into wars, fights and competitiveness which ultimately ruined and destroyed them because they sought to take credit for and ownership of a power, science and ability that was not their own but which was a bestowed trust or endowment conferred to them by the Indescribable Power, Olodumare Agotun. These uncultured, indifferent and unappreciative awo succumbed to moral-spiritual immaturity, greed for power, pride, heedlessness and longings for fame, self-worship, self adulation and undeserved titles or unmerited acknowledgments. They wanted people to fear and cower before them so that they might manipulate and intimidate the people for their own selfish and petty ends. Needless to say that the Great Power impartially and justly adjudicated these corrupt awo and took immediate steps to mete out to these reckless ones the corrective punishment and stern discipline that they earned for themselves.

The second general category of oso were those who discovered, studied and developed the ability to alter their spiritual consciousness and awareness and the spiritual consciousness and awareness of others so that they could gradually and progressively perceive, understand and apply the laws, principles and realities of the spiritual realm. Among these oso some sought to make advantageous, useful and beneficial use of the art of altering their spiritual awareness which enabled them to peer and even travel to the divine spirit[ual] realm where they were able to converse with divine powers and intelligences gaining wonderful information and useful knowledge. These oso also had the ability and divine power to travel long distances. They were formidable men of sagacity, courage and authority. Among these oso some also lost their way. Some also became filled with pride and conceit due to their grand discoveries and progressive attainments. Abandoning the humility, sincerity and good will with which they began their learning and training they too were ultimately consumed by the consequences of their callousness and abuses. Others lost their way in their musings and deep considerations of the profound experiences that that they had. They tried to prematurely enter into and understand what was beyond there present and actual need and capacity. They injured and hurt themselves. Others also lost their way by not incorporating and applying their findings for useful, practical, beneficial and progressive purposes. Due to lack of discipline, lack of patience, and impulsiveness some became lost in these divine realms of thought and contemplation thereby appearing to others as mad men, mentally unstable men, eccentric and/or irregular people. This is what happens when people unreflectively and pridefully insist on entering that for which they are unprepared and incapable.

The third general category of oso were the wise, observant, meticulous and progressive seers who carefully integrated the best of the two features of wisdom, power and attainment of the two general lineages of oso; (1) those whose main interest and priority was to acquire power, influence and authority and (2) those whose main interest and priority was to gain understanding of the meanings and purposes of life in general and human life in particular. It must be said that in all the categories of oso there were kind, intelligent, progressive and good willed student-disciples-practitioners. The third general category of oso were especially wise, careful and discerning. They learned from the error and mistakes of their fellow awo-ologbon-oso initiates, brothers and companions. They made sure that they did not repeat the misguided activities of many who went the wrong way in their approach. They took the science and holy mystery of the awo-ologbon-oso to a new, refined, practical, orderly and moral-spiritual level. They formed, built and established private schools or associations for qualified, prepared and maturing individuals. These associations or fellowships were permeated with love, awe, enthusiasm, simplicity, honesty, mutual respect and honor among its integrants. Like all true students, observers and scientists they learned thru trial and error. They learned from experimentation, experience, reflection and observation; and were able thereby able to formulate and explicate the principles of their spiritual science or knowledge for themselves and future generations of students; and were able to progressively devise the best means to practice and cultivate the great science for the purposes of accomplishing the Great Work entrusted to them by the Marvelous Emanator, Enitolodu.

Her virtue, character, personality and charisma are without equal. Even Òrúnmìlà acknowledged her greatness, efficiency, ability and uniqueness. It was after all Òrúnmìlà himself who called on Edan, his divine friend and associate for support, solutions and relief! When Edan descended from the realm of Irunmole to this earth she appeared with fullness of divine authority, power and command. All internal and external ajogun and elenini fled before her. With the power of her majestic, divinely attractive and beautiful personality and ase filled charisma she was able to free and deliver the hearts and minds of the negative thoughts, attitudes and unwholesome energies that were oppressing and dominating their minds.

Edan was able to disarm people of their worries, fears and insecurities. To those do who delighted in wrong doing, deception, oppression and corruption she struck fear into their hearts so that perhaps they might change their ways under her administration of forgiveness, order, empowerment and renewal. Such was and is the power and influence of divine mother Edan. Together with, and inseparable from the importation of her ase to responsive members of humanity she gave divine precepts and injunctions for her student-disciples to practice and implement on all levels of society and personal life. These obedient, trustworthy and reliable followers of Edan are Ogboni because there is only wisdom, health and long life in the obeying Edan and practicing her precepts. Outside of this one would constitute oneself an Ogberi because to apparently know and not practice the truth, what is that but if not the greatest ignorance, misfortune and foolishness. The divine principles of Edan became and are the vehicles of her divine presence, charisma, power, support and healing-rectifying influence. To have lived at the time of the appearance of Edan upon this sacred earth was a most extraordinary, gratifying and wonderful experience. That is if one was disposed to the divinely sanctioned way of life she was revealing to humanity and is still revealing to humanity. The stubborn, recalcitrant and belligerent did not and will not last long under the administration of Edan.

The Divine Ogboni Teachings of Orisa Edan (Onile Ogboduora)

Blessings of longevity and prosperity to one and all.

According to a verse in Ifa (Irosun Iwori) there was a period in the earliest history of man when there was great disharmony in the world. At that time the population of the world was small compared to today and no one had migrated beyond the legendary Ife-Ooye which many wise people believe must have been very near the present Ile-Ife in Osun State of Nigeria.

During this period of severe disharmony: stealing, lying, murder, conspiracy, rape and other forms of wicked behavior reigned supreme on earth.

Orunmila, who was already on the earth at this time was also at his wits end trying to find some solution to the chaotic situation which prevailed at the time. The holy elders on earth were all approaching Orunmila and urging him to find an effective solution to the state of lawlessness, rapine and corruption which was swallowing up the inhabitants of the earth.

Orunmila consulted Olodumare through the sacred Ifa Oracle. The verses that descended and were revealed upon the Oracular Tray were from the Odu-Ifa chapter called Irosun-Iwori. The following was the revelation of Ifa Irosun-Iwori:

‘Ha! Mo hee mo won lara consulted Ifa for Orunmila when Orunmila was going to ascend to the divine upper worlds (heaven) to call upon Orisa Edan. It it Orisa Edan who is to put life back to normal in Ife (upon the earth). The people of the earth tried again and again on their own through painstaking effort to attempt repair the earth like one repairs a broken calabash. All their efforts at amends were to no avail. The situation was beyond their power to correct and heal. In fact the people fragmented (broke) the world like one breaks the sacrificial calabash.

Orunmila was then urged to go to the divine world of the Irunmole (heaven) to call on Imole (Edan) to help repair the damage done on earth and bring restoration and order.

Orunmila was urged to call Imole (Edan) who was his close friend in the realm of divine personalities (heaven). Orunmila ordered the people of Ife to offer sacrifice. It is sacrifice that saves. Lack of sacrifice does not save. The people of Ife offered sacrifice with bush rat, fish, pigeons etc. Before long there was prosperity at Ife (upon the earth). People who obey Ifa’s instructions must surely prosper.’

After the sacrifice Orunmila ascended to divine abode to invite his lady friend Edan to help rectify the chaotic situation on earth. Edan agreed to accompany Orunmila back to earth to curb and eliminate the sinful activities of mankind. Before descending to earth Ifa was consulted and Iwori Owonrin manifested and gave the blessing and guidance to ensure a safe and succesful journey to Ife-Ooye. After performing the prescibed sacrifices and sacred rituals, Orunmila and Edan had a smooth journey to Ife-Ooye.

On their arrival at Ife the people were grateful to Orunmila and gave Edan an enthusiastic, eager and appreciative warm reception. Armed with patience, intelligence, authority and power, without wasting any time, Edan immediately embarked on fulfilling her divine mission. Systematically with sound planning and organization she instructed and ordered all the people of the earth to PROMISE on oath before her to return to good behavior and orderliness by which healing, blessings, peace, harmony and prosperity would be restored. Failure to comply with Edans’ authoritative command would cause the defaulter to pay the highest penalty of death.

After everyone had sworn before Edan to maintain peace, fairness, justice and harmony on earth, the tranquility and concord returned to Ife (the earth). The spirit of loving-kindness, rectitude, integrity and order was prevailing in the hearts and minds of all. Edan then settled down some extended time period on earth to supervise, promote and firmly establish her good work (mission).
